Looking for Players, Rehearsals and Update

We are looking for players to join the orchestra!  If you live in Western New England or New York (CT, VT, Western NH, NY, Western MA), the invitation is open to attend rehearsals on Wednesday nights at 7pm in Granby, MA (home of Adam Sweet).  If you live in Rhode Island, Eastern MA, Eastern CT or Eastern NH, you may prefer to attend rehearsals on Saturdays in RI.  We are interested in players who specialize in mandolin, mandola, mandocello and double bass.  If you want to play, but do not have an instrument, we may have one to loan you!

The Rhode Island contingent under Josh Bell of  L'Esperance has resumed rehearsals, Saturday mornings from 9am.  For specific details about the rehearsal, please contact Josh through his website:

The Western MA contingent under Adam Sweet has resumed rehearsals, Wednesday evenings at 7pm.  Please contact Adam for the street address by using the contact form on the sidebar, or here

Adam Sweet is now giving lessons again in person at his home in Granby, MA.  Adam teaches mandolin, mandola and mandocello as well as violin and viola.  Adam's website is a good place to learn more about his style:

Josh Bell has been giving lessons in person since March 2021.  You can reach Josh through his website: Josh teaches mandolin.

Post-Covid Plans

As our members are getting their vaccinations, we are generally planning our first rehearsal for sometime in late May or June.  It's been over a year since we have been together, but we are thrilled that this is almost over.

Our president, Adam Sweet, wants this to be an open invitation to any musician that would like to join us.  Area ensembles and orchestras may also participate, it's free!

If you would like to support what we are doing, you may send us a donation.  Click the button on the sidebar, or follow this link to the Patreon page here

Classical Mandolin Workshop on YouTube LIVE Wednesday night at 7pm EST

Mandolin New England RI Rehearsal

We will be holding a YouTube LIVE event tonight at 7pm on Classical Mandolin.  If you have ever wanted to learn about classical music and what it's like to play in a mandolin orchestra, now's your chance.  This workshop series covers material related to what the orchestra is working on, the related instrumentation and other information.  The topic is generally about mandolins and specifically about Mandolin New England.

If you would like to attend, you will need a YouTube channel to ask questions in the chat.  There will be a Q&A at the end.  You don't need a YouTube channel to watch.

Donations are graciously accepted.  100% of donations go to Mandolin New England.  Learn more at

Here's the link to the YouTube LIVE event at 7pm Wednesday:

Joining the Orchestra

If you would like to join the orchestra, we would love to have you!  Simply contact us and be sure to indicate the instrument(s) you play, your skill level (if you don't know that's ok!) and where you live.  We are open to mandolin players of any skill level with the one caveat that you need to be able to sight-read music!  Some of the music we play is super easy and appropriate for amateurs, and some is tragically difficult and better for advanced players.

Actively seeking mandolin, mandola, mandocello and mandobass players.  Also open to standup bass, classical guitar, octave mandolin.

Assuming you've told us what instrument you play and what is your skill level, we will email you appropriate parts, or send you a link to a PDF/Google Doc where you can download it yourself or upload it to your iPad or PC.  Let us know if you're having trouble loading it.

Due to the Coronavirus, we are all socially distancing and staying safe.  We are tentatively planning a get together for some time in January TBA, and concerts in the late Spring, early Summer.

Thank you again for your interest!
